Legends, a Pratt Institute scholarship benefit event honoring icons of art and design was held in Tribeca last night. Hosted by Pratt president Thomas F. Schutte, The honorees were fashion designer Marc Jacobs, architect David Rockwell-, and poet/visual artist Patti Smith. The event was conceived to raise funds to provide well needed financial aid to Pratt students. The awards started in 1999 by the board of trustees to celebrate eminent individuals and corporations in art and design, whose accomplishments relate harmoniously to Pratt.
The venue itself had a breathtaking 360 degree view of New York City, overlooking the Hudson River. Cocktails and drinks were served at 5pm. At around 7pm guest moved into the dining area were the dinner and celebration took place.
Model/photographer Helena Christensen introduced and presented Marc Jacob with his prestigious award.

Richard Meier presented Rockwell with his award, and Smith was presented her awarded by Edward and Robert Mapplethorpe. Patti Smith also gave and amazing performance at the end, which was one of the highlights of the night. Overall the night was very memorable, as artist, faculty, and guest joined together for a good cause.
